Wayfinding
If people can not find what they are looking for, they become frustrated and anxious. One city surveyed visitors and the most common complaint was navigation and wayfinding. People couldn't find where they were going and had a difficult time maneuvering in the city.
Whether a 1.3 million square-foot hospital, a retail epicenter, or a difficult-to find city, I can combine form with function to deliver a sign program that guides visitors to destinations they are looking for and create an environment that adds to the aesthetic of your facility or campus. I will utilize every tool at my disposal to deliver your project on time and within budget.

Exhibit Design
One of the most interesting projects I had the pleasure of working on was the Polar Bear exhibit at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. I was part of a team whose overall goal was to inform visitors about the environmental impact humans have on the polar bear's habitat. I was proud to have been a part of the team.

Map Design
When I began designing maps, the first thing I realized is that it is a daunting task. Roads, corridors, and intersections can become confusing and representing the environment graphically is challenging. I began to study how people navigate and find their way through spaces; this field of study is spacial cognition.
Every animal on Earth has the ability to navigate; it is intrinsic to survival. GPS devices were designed from studying how pigeons navigate. We try to use these devices to move through the built environment. Maps are supposed to illustrate this information quickly so that the viewer does not spend a lot of time studying it; they should be able to quickly glance at it and glean the information they need.
